Abstract

The analysis of a hotspot is a critical issue in mitigating natural disasters such as forest fires and volcanic eruptions. UAVs can be used to monitor a hotspot using manual navigation. However, there is a risk to operators during the natural disaster. In this research, a navigation algorithm is developed to strategically position itself over a hotspot. In the experimental results, the automatic navigation of the drone has a maximum error of 1.7 m with respect to the hotspot and has a duration of 30 s-. This automated approach not only improves the safety of UA Voperators, but also provides an accurate method for positioning over a hot spot, paving the way for applications in automated surveillance and disaster response systems.
